Multi-Industry Growth Leads to Company Expansion in SW Michigan
Driven by long-term growth and future demand from multiple industry segments has led to a facility expansion for a Kalamazoo based product development and contract manufacturing firm.
Keystone Solutions Group is a West Michigan based contract engineering, product development, and medical device manufacturing company. Keystone has experienced more than 30 percent growth per year for the past three years and is consolidating its two current facilities in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo into one larger 30,000 square foot facility located in Oshtemo Township. Since 1997 they have collaborated with customers in the Aerospace, Automotive, Life Science, and Medical Device industries to design, develop, test, and manufacture a wide range of products from concept and prototype through to production.
“We’re excited to have all of our employees under one roof” said Jim Medsker who together with Michael Zamora are the owners of Keystone. “Our expansion allows for more than 15,000 square feet of additional manufacturing and laboratory space, which we need to keep pace with current projects in our pipeline.” added Zamora. Keystone’s new facility will bring clean room manufacturing to Kalamazoo County, which along with their FDA Registration and ISO 13485 certification are in high demand within the medical device industry. Their expansion will also allow for additional personnel and assembly areas for durable medical equipment (DME) and electro-mechanical products. Keystone’s strongest growth and increase in its workforce will come from contract manufacturing of products currently under development. “Our biggest footprint is for medical device related projects” said Medsker “We’re working with our customers on some novel new technologies and as those products go to market, we’ll be part of their success.”
Keystone Solutions Group is an active member of the West Michigan Medical Device Consortium (WMMDC) and works with many of the state universities and economic development agencies like the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and The Right Place to offer its services to start-up companies and OEM’s interested in their services. Don Beery, the Director of the WMMDC says, “Keystone Solutions Group is a good example of an engaged member of the West Michigan Medical Device Consortium. The company is active not only in the medical device sector as an ISO 13485-certified partner, but also in the community. They bring creativity and a can-do attitude, which is undoubtedly contributing to their recent growth and our ability to attract new business and investments to West Michigan.”
