Accounting Assistant


We are looking for a talented individual to join our dynamic and diverse Keystone Solutions Group team located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. We are in search of an experienced Accounting Assistant who will be responsible for applying business knowledge and accounting expertise.  This motivated self-starter will be responsible for daily accounting activities as well as assisting the controller with special projects.

The Accounting Assistant will also have a great attention to detail and be highly organized with the ability to multi task.  The Accounting Assistant role will perform a variety of accounting tasks including accounts payable, reconciliations, credit card and expense report reconciliations, and file maintenance.  The role will require independent judgement and a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures.

A successful Accounting Assistant must be capable of working with minimal supervision, have a “can do” attitude, possess creative problem-solving skills and be willing to do “whatever it takes” to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.

Requirements and Activities

  • Process 3 way matching of P.O., item receipt and invoice
  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation for payment
  • Reconcile accounts including research and resolve discrepancies
  • Reconcile, audit and process credit card bills
  • Process check requests
  • Respond to vendor inquires
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • 1099 maintenance
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Uses initiative and applies innovative thinking
  • Work with team and assist with training of new ERP system
  • Assist with data transfer to ERP system
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationship in a team environment through written and oral communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associates Degree preferred
  • 3+ years' relevant experience
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and or ERP systems is preferred.
